Deep Breathing: An energetic journey

We are living in an age where the individual potential and betterment have been given a lot of importance. This ageage is of the individual and his potentialities. Not the state, not the nation, not a group but the individual, working his way to make himself better. To find out for himself, what is right, what is wrong for him. What helps him grow and heal.

In a matter of about a year or so, the power of deep breathing has made me aware a lot of things inside my body. Also, I have been introduced to many people who have discovered a lot of things in the field of body psychotherapy, for example, Wilhelm Reich. This man and his theory of "body armouring" has struck a chord deep within me. He had discovered something which is in congruence to the ‘chakra’ system of Yoga and Tantra.

All thanks to Osho. Due to him, I have come across many fascinating people and things in life.

This theory of body psychotherapy is simple; sexual energy is our life force and due to it being stuck and immobile it cannot rise higher as it should.  We cannot experience life to the fullest.

The blocks in the bodies have been developed throughout one’s life and a lot of repressive attitudes of our society are responsible for the formation and solidification of such blocks and ‘armours.’ These blocks don’t let the sexual energy (which is considered our primal life force) to reach towards the higher parts of our bodies and hence we remain living a very shallow life, without much ‘life’. It’s no wonder. The purpose of body oriented psychotherapy is to release such blocks and allow the free flow of sexual energy.

Repressed emotions can range from anger, hate, sadness, laughter (yes!), sex, love, greed, jealousy.   An interesting point to note is that, we are all afraid to breathe deeply as we would touch and release these emotions and it is very hurtful. We are afraid to feel the pain of repressed emotions and hence keep deep breathing at bay. We don’t know of our repressive attitudes, totally unaware of what we have done to ourselves. It is natural that we are unaware as everyone is living the same way; no one shows any sense of ‘armouring.’ It is ‘normal’ and that is why it goes unnoticed.

A small experiment with deep breathing reveals the energy produced by it and consequently one can become more aware of one’s blocks once this energy is awakened.

Enlightenment is nothing but our sexual energy (known as Kundalini) reaching our skull.

There is a whole lot of literature out there on chakras, Wilhelm Reich, Osho and the rest of it. I am writing this as I have experimented with it and have got some startling results and I am still startled by it. I hope this testimony helps someone to at least be experiential towards these things. Though I cannot show how it changed me but can leave you with a word: energy. That is the crux of it all, from what I've realized. Sexual energy is the energy of our life, the only energy! It is said to be a creative force in many Eastern traditions, especially in Yoga and Tantra. Besides, it costs nothing to take a few deep breaths and see it for yourself.

I am available if anyone needs links to such literature.
